More about Brett:

Brett is also a writer, producer, voice-over artist, publisher and a content strategist. Currently, Brett is the VP of Professional Books and Media at Heinemann Publishing. He is also the executive producer and co-host of The Heinemann Podcast. Brett taught Social Media and Journalism at Northern Vermont University (formerly known as Lyndon State College) between 2014-2019. Brett was also a journalist, and later, an on-air contributor for NEWS CENTER, Maine. He is the former producer of the newsmagazine shows “207” and “Bill Green’s Maine” (2003-2013).

As a seasoned Publisher and Content Strategist, I bring over a decade of experience in directing and managing creative and dynamic teams at Heinemann. My passion lies in multi-channel content development, spanning print books, audiobooks, video, blogs, and podcasts. I have a keen ability to collaborate with authors, develop original content, and lead digital content and communications strategy based on data analytics and organizational goals.

My journey extends beyond publishing into the realm of education. Serving as an Adjunct Instructor at Northern Vermont University, I designed and taught a Social Media and Journalism course, empowering students to master content development, storytelling, and news production for various social media channels.

In my previous role as Social Media Manager/Reporter at WCSH6/WLBZ2, I designed and implemented the newsroom’s social media and digital content strategy but also provided valuable insights on social media policy/strategy to senior leadership. My experience includes training newsroom staff on best practices and producing engaging features for news broadcasts.

As “207” Producer/Reporter, I had the privilege of showcasing in-depth interviews and feature stories about Maine’s diverse facets. Additionally, my role as a Producer for “Bill Green’s Maine” involved managing social media, editing stories, and producing a weekly newsmagazine show that showcased the wonders of Maine.

Having started my career as a News Videographer/Editor for Capital News 9, I honed my skills in videography and editing for general news and feature stories.

I am proud to be a member of Employee Resource Groups, contributing to HMH Mental Health, HMH Pride LGBTQ+ resources, DEI Council, Black Alliance, Asian Heritage, and Advocacy.

Today much of my work focuses on Neurodiversity. Throughout my career, I have championed an environment of curiosity, transparency, inclusivity, and innovation. I am a successful people manager, committed to developing and empowering teams to reach their full potential. Let’s connect and explore how we can collaborate to bring impactful stories to life and drive digital content strategies to new heights.

Brett On-Air:

In 2010, I became NEWS CENTER’s first Social Media Manager and digital media reporter covering stories about social media. In late 2013, I left the newsroom but continued as an on-air contributor for 207 until 2019. Below on my YouTube channel you can look back at some of my favorites pieces from those years in addition to some (random) new content I have created since.
